Yesterday I went to Chouquette in New Farm with my cousin, seriously the best bakery, pardon me, boulangerie in Brisbane.

Everything is aunthentically French, yays!

We shared a coffee eclair, croissant d'amandes and a 'rosy cheeks'. 'Twas a beautiful 28 minutes.

Then we just hung out and chit-chatted at New Farm Park for bit, and consequently got attacked by dangling worms. Well, she did anyway hehe.

today the sun came out (the past week it was cloudy and grey and freezing) perfect for the picnic my friend planned!

on the way back there was this fantastic suitcase rummage (market sorta thing) going outside king george square and i scored this lovely straw hat for $8

there was heaps and heaps of other stuff to look at but i grew tired of lugging the picnic bag, my handbag and the bamboo mat around so i went home. but will definitely go again next month if i remember! i can't believe i'd never even heard of this suitcase rummage before, so good work brisbane! finally something interesting happening in this city.

I recently stumbled upon Lisa Eldridge's (the make-up artist) website and I LOVE IT. Her tutorials are so easy to follow and she's not stingy on insider tips & tricks.

Her video with lipstick is one of my favourites. Genius, really.

Also see her video on applying false eyelashes - very easy to follow!

One day I'm hoping to do a full make-up course, with MACPro or something, and Lisa Eldridge is someone who I can honestly say inspires me and instils in me a great passion for make-up.

Today is a really blah day and I was late for my 8 o'clock lecture (again 4th time already I think). And it's rainy which means no beach volleyball tonight.

feeling a bit down in the dumps.

admittedly it's about a guy i met in hamilton, and i''m mourning the fact that while i didn't get his number my friend did. you'd think the simple solution would be to ask my friend for his number BUT all the girls from the hamilton trip were egging her and not me to 'hook-up' with him. (i really hate that term 'hook-up' by the way)

she didn't. but it doesn't change the fact that i don't have his number and then consequently i can't ask him out for coffee!

i know. i'm being such a child.

enough drivel.

it's sort of getting cooler here in brissie. by sort of i mean waking up to beautifully bright and crisp mornings and dreaming up lots of lovely autumn-y outfits to wear only to find that around noon it still reaches 29-30 degrees and i'm sweltering in jeans and brogues wishing i wore shorts or a dress.

i'm not kidding, it really exists, and is super duper easy to make! you do not require much cooking skill at all

i got the recipe off www.ourbestbites.com and this recipe blog/webpage is da shizzzz. i find myself drooling every time i visit

anyway, today was the second time i made this one ingredient ice cream and i am really pleased with how it turned out (though a recipe this easy, it can really only turn out GREAT)

1. chop and freeze ripened bananas. important that they be ripe because otherwise they can turn out bitter. ew

2. bung 'em in the food processor. i spose a blender works too but haven't tried it myself (nb: mum's food processor is tiny). the first thing you'll notice that it looks a lot like chopped garlic or cous-cous! give it a stir and...

3. like magic it becomes ice-cream. awwwh

i was shocked and devastated to hear of Alexander McQueen's death.

a truly great icon of british fashion will be sorely missed.

what i found more shocking was, of myself. instead of thinking about how much he would be missed as a son, a sibling, a friend, a loved one i thought to myself 'oh no now i'll never be able to buy any of his designs'

this really bothered me and quickly chastised myself soon after.
for some reason i felt so disrespectful and selfish because how can we say things like 'he'll be greatly missed ' when, for a lot of us, we never knew him personally. and what we're really missing is the fact that he won't ever produce great fashion again.

i realised then and there that yes, it is true he was ingeniously brilliant at his work but your work doesn't always have to define who you are.

i think i'd much rather have people remember me by the person i was...

then again,

this topic can be argued equally well both ways, because it's often the case where what you do, your actions, are a reflection of 'you'. i'm thinking now that they are one and the same, and it's impossible to talk about them separately.

what do you think?

Doing the usual checking of the email and I came across one from shopbop.com, ones which I normally give a quick squiz over and then move on.

Not today! My interest today was piqued enough that I just had to click on the little 'shopthelookbook' link.

They did a little spread on lingerie as outer-wear. Yawn you say. Yes it has been done before but I still hold a great affinity for it! Here are some of the pieces that I took great liking to... and I've decided this is how I want to dress for spring summer this year (and also for autumn/winter next year!)

I'm loving the idea of the LWG (long white gown). Lol just realised how wedding-y that sounded. Still I think all white ensembles are great for summer, and something I'm eager to try out soon.
