perfect winter sunshine

today the sun came out (the past week it was cloudy and grey and freezing) perfect for the picnic my friend planned!


on the way back there was this fantastic suitcase rummage (market sorta thing) going outside king george square and i scored this lovely straw hat for $8

there was heaps and heaps of other stuff to look at but i grew tired of lugging the picnic bag, my handbag and the bamboo mat around so i went home. but will definitely go again next month if i remember! i can't believe i'd never even heard of this suitcase rummage before, so good work brisbane! finally something interesting happening in this city.

later on double choc cookies, mini beef pies and iced buns joined in too.

i made the pies yesterday and heated them up in the morning.

despite experiencing what was the worst week i've ever had at uni (Tues Wed & Thurs nights were all-nighters, and sleep came about in sporadic naps each time i woke up feeling guilty but strangely energized..i digress) i managed to get a quick snap of my outfit on monday

I recently stumbled upon Lisa Eldridge's (the make-up artist) website and I LOVE IT. Her tutorials are so easy to follow and she's not stingy on insider tips & tricks.


Her video with lipstick is one of my favourites. Genius, really.

One day I'm hoping to do a full make-up course, with MACPro or something, and Lisa Eldridge is someone who I can honestly say inspires me and instils in me a great passion for make-up. 


Today is a really blah day and I was late for my 8 o'clock lecture (again 4th time already I think). And it's rainy which means no beach volleyball tonight.

"a la faveur automne"

feeling a bit down in the dumps. 


admittedly it's about a guy i met in hamilton, and i''m mourning the fact that while i didn't get his number my friend did. you'd think the simple solution would be to ask my friend for his number BUT all the girls from the hamilton trip were egging her and not me to 'hook-up' with him. (i really hate that term 'hook-up' by the way) 


she didn't. but it doesn't change the fact that i don't have his number and then consequently i can't ask him out for coffee!


i know. i'm being such a child.

it's sort of getting cooler here in brissie. by sort of i mean waking up to beautifully bright and crisp mornings and dreaming up lots of lovely autumn-y outfits to wear only to find that around noon it still reaches 29-30 degrees and i'm sweltering in jeans and brogues wishing i wore shorts or a dress.

one ingredient ice-cream

i'm not kidding, it really exists, and is super duper easy to make! you do not require much cooking skill at all


i got the recipe off www.ourbestbites.com and this recipe blog/webpage is da shizzzz. i find myself drooling every time i visit


anyway, today was the second time i made this one ingredient ice cream and i am really pleased with how it turned out (though a recipe this easy, it can really only turn out GREAT) 

1. chop and freeze ripened bananas. important that they be ripe because otherwise they can turn out bitter. ew

2. bung 'em in the food processor. i spose a blender works too but haven't tried it myself (nb: mum's food processor is tiny). the first thing you'll notice that it looks a lot like chopped garlic or cous-cous! give it a stir and...

3. like magic it becomes ice-cream. awwwh

tastes, feels, looks like real ice-cream. i am still amazed
